Reserved Seating Series (iChair)

The iChair is an invitation to pause, breathe, and reconnect with your higher self.  It challenges the notion that productivity defines our worth, urging us instead to measure our lives based on how PRESENT we are.  To quote Ralph Caplan “a chair is the first thing you need when you don’t really need anything and is therefore a peculiarly compelling symbol of civilization” — I couldn’t agree more, the iChair embodies this paradox but its sustenance and meaning is derived from the sentient masterpiece that sits in it—YOU.  The brief is to quiet the mind, to still the body and to recognize yourself as a limitless, omni-present superpower.  

The iChair was idealized in 2023, the same year my corporate position was eliminated after spending nearly two decades as a project/program manager at a Fortune 500 company.  Pursuing a new job in the same genre felt like a betrayal, yet I was unsure how to pave an alternate path forward.  My career in tech was consumed with deadlines and deliverables, I was always on the move so slowing down felt foreign and uncomfortable — Like walking a taboo line that ran perpendicular to a society governed by KPIs and OKRs.  To the people around me, pressing pause meant breaking a cardinal rule designed to perpetuate external control rather than internal alignment.  Nevertheless, I leaned into the void with audacity, choosing to examine my truth by sitting in silence every dayMy thoughts and emotions were allowed to just be, to come and go as they pleased without judgement. Several ah-ha moments surfaced in my daily stillness practice that helped me build the framework for an action plan which honored my authentic interests.  Moreover, the insights were rooted in strength and clarity (rather than doubt and confusion) which indicated the knowledge originated from a higher order or what I refer to as SOURCE.  

The design elements for the iChair are intentionally pared down, reflecting only what I believe to be the most impactful and relevant (less is more) — An Apple Air tag in clear casing simulates the discovery process (a metaphor for finding and building a connection with the higher self).  Space For Dialogue signifies the chair occupant always has access to their powerful inner guidance system.   The typography displayed on the front (SOURCE) is the all knowing superpower within you and is available in 3 bespoke colors (fire, air or charcoal).  The embossed metal plate, visible when the iChair is standing upright, conveys information about usage and is available in a silver/magnesium finish. There are 10 iChairs in the series represented by the number sequence (0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9) — The oval line around the number corresponds to where each chair falls in the production process.  A natural sheepskin adds a touch of luxury and extra comfort (optional). 

Each iChair is fully assembled, comes with a certificate of authenticity and is sold individually.  Click here if you’re ready to take a seat!  I recommend sitting in the iChair for at least 20 minutes a day, preferably in silence.  There will likely be noise in the silence when you start out, at least that was my experience (i.e. lots of dense emotions and questionable thought-patterns) but that will subside with practice.
